Jocelyn Crecia is the Director of Bands at the Orange County School of Computer Science (OCSCS) at Bernardo Yorba, teaching parade band, concert band and jazz band since August 2020. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, as well as a Minor in Business Administration at California State University, Fullerton.
She started her music journey as a violinist at age 10 and continued playing in her middle and high school orchestras until her senior year in high school. It was in 12th grade that she also joined the drum line in her high school's marching band. Percussion was Jocelyn’s main instrument throughout her undergraduate program, and she was a member of the Symphonic Winds, Percussion Ensembles, and various recitals for other instrumentalists and composers. Although most of her time was dedicated to percussion, her passion for learning as many instruments as possible brought her to the University Band, where she played clarinet and baritone. Furthermore, she sang in the Women's Choir for nearly three years.
Jocelyn completed her K-12 teaching credential for instrumental music at CSUF during which she taught in Placentia-Yorba Linda USD at Valencia High School and Kraemer Middle School. In addition to performing and teaching, she is deeply involved with many music education advocacy organizations as an active member of NAfME, CMEA, and SCSBOA. When she is off the podium, Jocelyn spends her time with her family and loving wife. She also enjoys traveling, playing video games, and being home with her cat, Katara.
