Jocelyn Crecia

Jocelyn Crecia is the Instrumental Music Director at Bernardo Yorba Middle School, teaching band, orchestra, and jazz band. Jocelyn grew up in Montebello, California, and graduated from Schurr High School. Her musical background began in 5th grade as a violinist; she later became the Concertmaster at her high school, as well as the Orchestra President. It was not until her last year in high school when she joined the drumline and began her journey as a percussionist.After graduating high school, Jocelyn completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, as well as a Minor in Business Administration at California State University, Fullerton. Percussion was Jocelyn’s main instrument throughout her undergraduate program, and she was a member of the Symphonic Winds, Percussion Ensembles, and various recitals for other instrumentalists and composers. Although most of her time was dedicated toward percussion, her passion for learning as many instruments as possible brought her to the University Band, where she played clarinet and baritone. Furthermore, she sang in Women’s Choir for nearly three years.Jocelyn completed her teaching credential at CSUF where she taught in PYLUSD at Valencia High School and Kraemer Middle School.In addition to performing and teaching, Jocelyn is deeply involved with many music education advocacy organizations. She is an active member of NAfME, CMEA, and SCSBOA. She is also a member of the professional music fraternity Mu Phi Epsilon’s Fullerton Alumni chapter.When she is not teaching music, Jocelyn spends her days with her loving spouse. She enjoys traveling, reading, swimming, and most of all spending quality time with her family.
